If you have been considering having one of those “Full body” scans, consider this:  An abdominal CT scan exposes the patient to 500 chest X-rays worth of radiation!  This information is from the government website: www.fda.gov/cdrh/ct/. According to the American Cancer society, there’s little evidence that these scans actually work as a screening tool.

Many leading scientific and medical organizations including the Mayo Clinic do not endorse full-body CT screening and caution against the use of this test.  According to the American College of Radiology, there isn’t enough evidence to justify CT screening for people with no symptoms or family history suggesting disease.
